Dr. Rafael Magris's work focuses on marine protected area design, with a broad interest on marine conservation and applied conservation science to inform management decisions. He graduated with a PhD in 2016 at James Cook University (Australia) working on advancing methods in marine conservation planning, particularly for larval connectivity, climate change, and dynamic threats to the marine environment. He also conducted postdoctoral studies at University of Victoria (Canada), exploring quantitative modelling approaches of disturbances on marine ecosystems and impact assessment. Dr. Magris is currently working at Brazil's national agency for biodiversity conservation
