Communications & Development Intern

Originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Emma first fell in love with the ocean on the West Coast, when she witnessed Pacific gray whales migrating off the Southern California coast. Many beach and aquarium trips later, she is thrilled to work as a summer intern for Marine Conservation Institute, an organization which shares her enthusiasm for ocean protection and preservation. An aspiring environmental journalist, Emma is a senior undergraduate student at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York, with a major in Communication, concentration in Journalism, and minor in Environmental Studies. She is Editor-in-Chief of the Marist Circle student newspaper, with previous bylines in The Revelator, Hudson Valley Magazine, and the National Association of Science Writers. When not communicating about science, Emma can be found taking nature photographs, following the latest oceanographic news, or performing musical theatre.
