Arthur Omondi Tuda

Dr. Arthur Omondi Tuda has over 18-years of experience in marine protected areas (MPA) management. A conservation leader known for his role in promoting management effectiveness of MPAs in the Western Indian Ocean (WIO) region, Dr. Tuda has earned recognition as an MPA-Pro, by the Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association (WIOMSA). With a focus on strategic management to further MPA goals, he has steered management effectiveness and adaptive management programs in MPAs in the Western Indian Ocean (WIO) region which has brought a new perspective of knowledge-oriented management of MPAs in the region. Dr. Tuda’s career includes MPA managerial roles in Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) including overseeing management of 5 MPAs and the coastal landscapes in Kenya. Dr. Tuda holds an MSc degree in Water and Coastal Management from the University of Bergen in Norway and University of Plymouth, UK and a PhD in Marine & Coastal Management from the University of Cadiz in Spain.
