Blue Parks Science Intern

Alexandra Azevedo earned her Master of Science in Applied Marine Science from the University of Cape Town. She focused her studies on Marine Protected Area planning, fisheries, and cartilaginous fishes, and completed her dissertation on a descriptive based study on the spotted skate, Raja straeleni. Prior to this Alexandra completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Earth Science and Sustainability focusing on organic farming and green cities. Earlier this year, Alexandra was in Antarctica working alongside the Southern Ocean Carbon and Heat Impact on Climate (SO-CHIC) team studying the interactions between the atmosphere and the ocean surface. As an intern at Marine Conservation Institute, she hopes to gain experience working in a non-profit setting and continuing her work to protect the world's oceans through Marine Conservation Institute's mission. Alexandra can usually be found playing with her dogs, surfing, practicing yoga, or hiking.
