Trump Abandons the Paris Climate Agreement

The Trump Administration’s decision to pull out of the Paris Climate Agreement will have devastating consequences for marine life in our oceans. For decades, the ocean has been absorbing excess carbon dioxide that humans release into the atmosphere by burning fossil fuels. Ocean acidification, warming seawater and sea level rise – all a result of carbon dioxide emissions– are accelerating rapidly. We are now witnessing massive coral bleaching events, fisheries disruption as species move to cooler waters, acidifying seawater that corrodes shells, and coastal flooding as sea levels rise.

Our major initiative, the Global Ocean Refuge System (GLORES), is designed to help mitigate the devastations of climate change on marine life and safeguard our oceans. GLORES will incentivize governments to strongly protect marine life by giving prestigious awards for effective marine protected areas that meet science-based standards. Marine life is disappearing at alarming rates and needs protection now more than ever.

The Global Ocean Refuge System is made possible by ocean advocates like you. Will you make a donation to support GLORES and help protect marine life threatened by Mr. Trump’s devastating decision? Our Board of Directors will match every dollar donated through World Oceans Day on June 8th to propel GLORES forward. Donate today and your contribution will be doubled!

I’ll chip in!
